Plant Life and Playwright Pioneers!

In Science, Kingfishers have been finding out all about plants: what they need to grow well and the names and functions of the different parts of plants and flowers. The children have dissected a flower and found out the job of each part. They have discovered how important bees are in the life cycle of a plant and how plants reproduce.

In English, the children have been inspired by our Urban Pioneers topic to write a poem on the theme of a city. We based our work on a poem called Last Night I saw the City Breathing by Andrew Fusek Peters. The children worked extremely hard, using interesting vocabulary and superb poetic techniques such as similes and personification. Now, after reading and acting out several plays, the children are busily writing their own play based on a traditional story.
